Marketplace
The word marketplace encompasses the most comprehensive form of the word market. Considering the technological innovations that the world is experiencing, together with globalization and the perception of entrepreneurs that by uniting in favor of their interests they achieve a much better result than acting individually, the marketplace model is in full expansion.
The marketplace conveys the idea of a free space, a โmeeting placeโ, in which sellers and buyers can do business completely autonomously, using the same virtual space.
In countries such as China and the United States, this type of business dominated the majority of operations for purchasing products and contracting services. In Brazil, the scenario is no different, as in recent years large retailers have joined the marketplace model.
Currently, 90% (ninety percent) of online retail revenue in China comes from marketplaces, while in the United States this segment corresponds to 33% (thirty-three percent) (Source: Channel Advisor).
In Brazil, the marketplace market grew by 90.7% (ninety point seven percent) from 2017 to 2018, according to a Precifica survey, and public opinion only reinforces the success of this business model. Among Brazilians who buy online, 95% (ninety-five percent) use marketplaces, according to research by PwC and UPS.
